Last Update: 23 March 2020

MWC Group response to Coronavirus.

Dear valued clients of MWC, home buyers and home owners.

We are sure you are well aware that Australia and the World is facing an outbreak like we have never seen before in our lifetime. There is no doubt, that this pandemic has already had an effect on everyone in some shape of form.

We wanted to ensure you, that our company is committed to supporting our people, clients and partner companies. Our number one priority is the safety and well-being of everyone. As updates are being announced, we are taking all practical precautions in line with the latest advice from the Government.

Many have been directly affected by this unprecedented event. These ones are deep in our thoughts and we are ever grateful to all the healthcare workers, and people who are working endlessly to help others and assist with containing the Coronavirus.

In order to help where we can, below we have outlined some information to assist home buyers and home owners.

To home buyers...

At this stage, MWC Group's operations continue to run as normal and we want you to know that we are here to help and support you. We are continuing to assist home buyers to take the steps forward to achieving their home ownership goal.

To ensure the safety of our staff and clients, we have put practical social distancing measures in place. Much of our team is now working remotely, all equipped with the tools and resources needed to help you.

As we work with you, we encourage you to take advantage of free consultations with our team over the phone. We are also here to assist you via digital platforms including Email, SMS, Facebook Messenger and Zoom Video Conferencing.

There are some key points to keep in mind when buying a home at this time…

  • Assess your situation and take a realistic look at the likelihood of continued employment in the near future.
  • Seek out the best advice from people you know and trust.
  • Remember that owning a home is for the long-term. Property is viewed as a secure investment which grows in value over time.

If you have questions relating to buying a home, please talk to our team and let us help you. This is what we are here for.

To home owners...

We understand that many home owners may have some concerns. Particularly for those who may have recently had their employment or financial situation compromised. We encourage you to please reach out to us anytime for advice.

At this stage, it is uncertain when this pandemic will pass and things will be back to normal as we know it. However, the Government and Banks are aware of this and it is in their best interest to take care of those who’s financial situation may have been effected.

The following information may help you.

  • Borrowers may be able to pause mortgage repayments. Recently, the big four major banks have announced that they were going to give their mortgage customers some time off from paying their loans if there is a need. See ABC News article here. Many banks have also reduced their interest rates in response to the recent RBA Cash Rate drop. It is likely that over coming weeks, more assistance will become available, so make sure to check for updates often. As a home owner, we encourage you to reach out to your bank and find out what options are available to you.
  • Early access to Superannuation from mid April. On Sunday, Scott Morrison has announced that as of April, Australians who have lost employment or have had a reduction of 20% or more in their hours or income, will be able to pull money out of their superannuation. Withdrawals will be capped at $10,000 this financial year, and a further $10,000 next financial year, and will be tax-free, the prime minister and his treasurer, Josh Frydenberg, said. • Budget and plan ahead. We encourage you to get a copy of our free budget planner, available in both PDF and Excel formats. During these difficult times, it is essential to plan ahead. Click here to access our Budget Planner Kit
